IT was not a political party who created the Scottish Parliament – it was the people themselves.
It therefore follows that only the people should be able to get rid of it – to disempower themselves, if you like.
But it seems MPs down in London disagree.
Earlier this week, they quashed a bid to make our parliament permanent.
An SNP amendment to the Scotland Bill that is currently moving through the House of Commons proposed that the Scottish Parliament could only be abolished if a majority of Scots voted to do that in a referendum.
