Joan Congratulates Johnston on PFA Manager of The Year Award

South of Scotland MSP Joan McAlpine has today (Tuesday) congratulated Queen of the South player manager Allan Johnston on his well-deserved PFA Scotland Manager of the Year Award.

A league and cup double with a dominant Queens side will undoubtedly have helped Johnston to scoop the award, beating off some stiff competition from Celtic's Neil Lennon, Inverness's Terry Butcher and Motherwell's Stuart McCall.

Ms McAlpine tabled a Motion in Parliament congratulating Mr Johnston on his success.

Commenting, the SNP MSP said:

“To achieve what he has in his first full season in management is fantastic, but to do it with playing responsibilities too is testament to the ability of Allan Johnston and his staff at Palmerston.

“Not only were Queens the first team in Britain to win their league, but they managed to achieve a historic double by beating Partick Thistle to win the Ramsdens Cup.

“It’s a great boost for the Doonhamers and I wish them every success for next season.”
