Let doctors decide to dish out drugs..not politicians

IT is wrong to suggest that Alex Salmond should intervene in the Scottish Medicines Consortium decision of new drugs - he is not a doctor.

A COUPLE of years ago a close friend of mine received the devastating news that he had incurable cancer.

Doctors said it was a matter of months. Chemotherapy might extend his life a little, then again it might not.

My friend took the gamble, as many would. We hear stories about people told they have weeks to live who run marathons five years later.
