From the Moon to the Muckle Toon

That the Parliament congratulates the organisers of the From the Moon to the Muckle Toon festival taking place in Langholm from 3 to 15 June 2013;

recognises that Neil Armstrong was made the first Freeman of Langholm in 1972 following his historic moonwalk three years earlier; understands that the festival will include an exhibition, lectures, film showings, stargazing events and a church service to commemorate Neil Armstrong’s life, and welcomes the Scottish Government’s support of this event through the £5,000 award from the Talking Science grants scheme, which aims to support public activities and events that get people talking about science, technology and engineering and how they impact on everyday lives, particularly in rural, remote and disadvantaged areas of Scotland.
