Athena SWAN

That the Parliament congratulates the University of Glasgow’s Institute of Health and Wellbeing on winning what it considers a prestigious Athena SWAN silver departmental award; understands that the Athena SWAN Charter recognises commitment to advancing women's careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine in academia; notes that the schools of veterinary medicine and computing science have also won bronze awards;

further understands that the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Crichton Campus is carrying out an equality and diversity self-assessment with the intention of applying for an Athena SWAN department bronze award; acknowledges the importance of tackling gender inequality in higher education, and welcomes moves to promote equality of opportunity in a way that ensures that all staff and students are encouraged to achieve their potential.
