Fans of Marra pay tribute to late musician

MICHAEL MARRA never appeared on Top of the Pops or MTV during his music career, but his legacy is sure to be even more enduring than many who did.

TEARS were shed in Glasgow last week when a capacity crowd of 2,500 people turned out to pay tribute to Michael Marra, who died last year.

I was privileged to have known the Dundonian musician a little, since meeting him at a charity gig organised by Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross in the 80s.

Ricky’s band went on to have some chart-topping hits, as did the other Scottish unknowns at that gig, in what was then Glasgow’s Third Eye Centre – Hue & Cry and Wet Wet Wet.
